This is already the 6th year we have worked with Agricafé in Bolivia. Agricafé is an inspiring family trio: Pedro Rodriguez, the father, and his children Daniela and Pablo Pedro. Together, they have become true pioneers of specialty coffee in Bolivia, notably through their educational program “Sol de la Mañana,” which now brings together more than 500 producers. This program ensures an exceptional transfer of knowledge and aims to professionalize an entire generation of producers. Nothing goes to waste at Agricafé: the coffee cherry pulp is dried to produce cascara, coffee flowers are used to make tea, organic waste is turned into compost, and even pruned branches are used as fuel for the dryers. Their agroecological approach is exemplary, with constant concern for the environment.

For the 3rd time, we are featuring a coffee from Finca La Linda, the very place where the Rodriguez family began growing their own specialty coffee. Nestled in the heart of the Amazon rainforest, La Linda benefits from an ideal microclimate for the development of the cultivated varieties. More than 60% of the farm is preserved as a nature reserve, fostering impressive biodiversity in both its fauna and flora. A true nursery, all the mother plants of the different varieties grown by the Rodriguez family first take root at La Linda before being planted on their other farms.

Grown at an altitude of approximately 1,500 meters, this coffee consists of the Red Caturra variety. The cherries are picked at full maturity and sorted by flotation and then by hand before being mechanically depulped. The beans then ferment for 48 hours in stainless steel tanks with their mucilage intact, without adding water, for a clean and controlled fermentation. After a complete wash, the coffee is slowly dried in a mechanical dryer kept below 38 degrees Celsius. We purchased this lot directly from Agricafé, with the logistical support of our importing partner Apex Coffee Imports.
